Four simple steps towards receiving your CBSE designation:

Step 1: Apply Online

Submit your online CBSE application with the $475 certification fee. Your application includes access to Volumes 1-7 and the Guide to Green Cleaning in e-book format. You have 365 days from the date you apply to access the study materials and the online examination. If you do not complete the exam within the time limit, it will count as an automatic fail.

Step 2: Order Hard Copies (Optional)

To order hard copies of Volumes 1-7 and the Guide to Green Cleaning, visit the BSCAI Marketplace.

Step 3: Complete the Exam

Log on when you are ready to take the CBSE examination online. The exam is broken into four sections (see FAQs below), which can be taken in any order.

• Once you begin one of the four sections of your exam, you will have 14 days to complete the full exam.
• Individual sections are still timed, similarly to paper examinations.
• Examinees do not need to have a proctor present.
• Results are generated automatically after each section is completed and an e-mail confirmation is sent with total results when the exam is completed.
• The exams are completely true/false and multiple choice.

Step 4: Review Results and Retake if Needed

Online testing results will be received instantly. Candidates must achieve a minimum passing score of 70% on each of the four sections on the exam. A candidate can retake any section that they do not pass again within one year. You can apply to retake the exam by logging into your profile and adding the reexamination to your cart. Re-examination is a $100 fee to BSCAI headquarters.

Steps to Renew Your CBSE:

Keeping your CBSE designation current is simple! Follow the steps below

1. Click here to retrieve a copy of the CBSE renewal form and application.
2. Fill out the CBSE renewal form and application listing the 40 credits you have earned since your last renewal and email the completed form to certification@bscai.org.
3. Pay the $149 recertification fee
   Payment options:
   1. Pay by Check: Mail a check to the BSCAI at the address below.
   2. Pay by Credit Card: To pay online via credit card, login to your personal www.bscai.org account and navigate to the user portal. Click on the bell icon with a red notification in the upper right corner, then click "Outstanding Balances" to view and pay the invoice. 
4. Attach credit card confirmation receipt to a copy of the CBSE renewal form and Application and mail packet back to headquarters:

All CBSE designation holders must complete the examination and re-registration application and submit them to the Certification and Registration department with payment no later than June 30 of their re-registration year.

Lifetime Certification:

All BSCAI CBSE designees, upon reaching the age of 62 and who have renewed their designation at least twice, are designated for life. For example, someone who became certified in 2008 and recertified in the years 2012 and 2015, would be eligible for lifetime certification in 2018. No further reporting or payment is required other than notifying the BSCAI certification department in writing of meeting the age and recertification requirements.
