Janelle Bruland knows how hard it is to stay on top of everything.
Bruland is the founder and CEO of MSNW, LLC., a facility management company which has grown into a successful regional enterprise, thanks to her leadership. She is also a past BSCAI president. In her new book The Success Lie: 5 Simple Truths to Overcome, Overwhelm and Achieve Peace of Mind—set to release on April 23—she touches on what it takes to reach your highest potential.
She is also a keynote speaker at this year’s Executive Management Conference, held May 16-18 at the Omni Interlocken Resort & Spa in Denver, Colorado. BSCAI sat down with her to discuss what success means to her and what people can expect from her presentation.
BSCAI: This conference is a chance for building service contractors (BSCs) to learn and discover new ways to invigorate their teams. Why are these opportunities essential to managing a successful business?
JANELLE BRULAND: In my many years of being a building service contractor, I have learned that the people you surround yourself with are critical to your success. The importance of having the right people on your team continues to be the key predictor of whether or not you will have a successful and thriving company where you retain your customers.
In this ever-changing business environment we must continue to strengthen our own leadership abilities, as well as those of our teams. When you grow and improve as a leader, your team will improve, and your company will improve. I am grateful to belong to BSCAI as the leading resource for contractors with a powerful network of peers committed to growth and improvement.
BSCAI: Why are you passionate about the topic you’re presenting?
JB: Many business owners and teams struggle with juggling too many balls and end up feeling frustrated with keeping up in this fast paced world. As the founder and CEO of a building services contracting company operating 24/7, I know how challenging it is to stay on top of everything. I am passionate about helping business leaders overcome overwhelming situations and have created a proven system to be successful in the business world and maintain balance in your personal life – without constantly feeling stressed.
BSCAI: What are three takeaways you hope attendees get from your session?
JB:
- The three things you can control to help teams love their work and their life.
- The mindset shift that you can use to continually improve yourself and your teams.
- How to keep your organization laser focused (specifics for your organization, not generalities) to maximize your productivity and results
There’s still time to register for the Executive Management Conference! See Bruland and our other speakers in Denver from May 16-18.
