After nearly 58 years in the building service industry, Dick Ollek is retiring as of December 31, 2020.
Dick entered the building service industry right out of college in 1963 when he accepted the position of financial manager for a sanitary supply and building service contracting company in Wichita, Kansas.
In 1972 he founded his own building service contracting firm and served as CEO until selling it in 2005. Beginning in 1994 he also started providing consulting services along with training and educational workshops to contractors, manufacturers, and distributors throughout the United States.
Dick is a Certified Building Service Executive (CBSE) and served as President of the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) in 1990-1991.
After selling his company in 2005, Dick founded Consultants In Cleaning, LLC where he has continued to serve as a senior consultant offering marketing, human resource, operations and administration assistance as well as training and educational workshops.
Beginning in 2008, Dick created a series of training DVDs for BSCs that soon became highly successful and developed into the standard for the industry. Those were followed with a weekly national podcast as well as webinars on various subjects.
In addition, Dick has authored 4 highly successful books—Selling Contract Cleaning Services 101, Finding, Training, and KEEPING Great Service Employees 101, The Do’s and Don’ts of Contract Cleaning from One Who Did and Didn’t, and The Guide to Effective Supervision. Each of these books has sold thousands of copies throughout the United States, Europe and Australia.
Dick continues to live in Wichita with his wife Barbara and their 2 dogs Ernie and Eli.
