Sara Ross, Chief Vitality Office of BrainAMPED, has always aspired to carve her own path. Early on in her career, Sara developed an unadulterated fascination with neuroscience and the psychological fundamentals behind every day decision making. Following her passion, Sara founded BrainAMPED, the leadership research and coaching firm designed to help organizations and their people build their Leadership Vitality to transform the way they succeed at work and thrive in life.
While helping leaders develop the skills they need to affect change, Ross offered a piece of sage advice relative to the separation of good leaders from great leaders.
"Great leaders have to get better at being comfortable with uncertainty and being uncomfortable with how things happen sometimes. We need to move the needle to see what works and then make adjustments accordingly. Analysis without action breeds anxiety," says Ross.
In both our professional and personal lives, Ross purports that developing one's emotional intelligence is integral to adapting and growing as individuals. By being open to new experiences and harboring a willingness to learn, we set the foundation for success. Unapologetically making mistakes and learning from those mistakes proves vital to assuming a leadership position. According to Ross, mistakes are part of our evolution.
"Our vitality comes down to maintaining a mindset of curiosity. We really have a curiosity deficit. You can't be curious and not ask questions. If you have an open mindset, you'll really be able to absorb the information that can help you grow," says Ross.
Sara will serve as a keynote speaker at this year's Contracting Success conference. Listen to her full podcast episode below.
