BSCAI is pleased to report unprecedented attendance at its Contracting Success conference, held Nov. 14-16, 2023, in Las Vegas. The event encouraged building service contractors (BSCs) to bet on their business by connecting with others in the industry, getting a read on the latest trends, exchanging best practices and exploring solutions to shared challenges. More than 750 professionals made good on that invite — an increase from 2022, when participation rebounded to pre-pandemic levels.
“We expected to deliver a world-class Contracting Success Conference in Vegas this year,” stated Conference Chair Philippe D. Mack, SVP of Corporate Development, Bee-Clean Building Maintenance.
While the record crowd was a marker of success for convention organizers, the big payout for attendees was the tailored programming built around seven industry tracks, from marketing to finance. The educational lineup included:
- Developing an Intentional Customer Retention Plan as Part of Your Growth Strategy, presented by Tom Kruse, CBSE, chief development officer at Marsden Holdings, LLC
- M&A: It Doesn’t Have to be an All or Nothing Deal, presented by Mark Herbick, founder and CEO at Pursant, LLC
- Keys to Client Retention, presented by Jamie Henry, CEO at Bee Line Support
- Making Cents of a Dirty Business – Survive and Succeed in Commercial Cleaning, presented by Troy Hopkins, CBSE, area developer at Office Pride Commercial Cleaning
- Labor Trends: Reading Between the Data and Human Resources Lines, presented by Claudia St. John, president at Affinity HR Group and Jill Davie, chief customer experience officer at WorkWave
- Four focused seminars on revenue growth, bidding & estimating, supervision and productivity
- Networking roundtable discussions, plus more than 20 peer-to-peer sessions that drew an exceptional level of engagement
"The main benefits of this conference from my perspective are that it allows our members to be productive, creative and collaborative,” Mack remarked, emphasizing the networking opportunities and potential for both personal and professional growth.
"The association really focused on delivering value to members and partners,” he added. “It was a great journey to work with the committees.”
Attendees, too, were pleased. Feedback was universally positive, with components from program content to networking to knowledge transfer from industry experts eliciting praise from those in attendance. A couple of sample remarks captured include:
“The BSCAI Contracting Success conference continues to be the primary venue where our team is able to network with peers, stay current with industry trends and have a time to hang out and have some fun. The 2023 BSCAI Contracting Success conference allowed us to continue that tradition.”
“This was my first conference and I was amazed by the sheer size of it. It's very easy to get stuck on an island in this business but to see so many other folks involved and dealing with the same problems on a day-to-day business provides an invaluable shift in perspective.”
Notably, BSCAI staged Contracting Success alongside ISSA, which also happens to be celebrating its 100th anniversary. “It was great to all be under one roof for this year’s event,” Mack declared.
BSCAI will make its way back to Vegas Nov. 19-21, 2024, for the next Contracting Success Conference. In the meantime, professionals in the janitorial services industry can stay up to date on upcoming educational and networking events and opportunities by visiting the BSCAI website.
