Women continue to rise to the top when it comes to the most elite reaches of corporate leadership.
Looking to uncover common threads to the qualities that these women share, Korn Ferry Institute — a global executive search firm — recently studied 57 women who have been CEO — 38 currently and 19 previously — at Fortune 1000-listed companies and others of similar size.
Below is a sample of the findings. To access the full report and analysis, click here.
While each path to CEO is unique, these commonalities may prove to form a solid foundation for women rising to the top. When asked to share advice for women on a similar trajectory, Janelle Bruland, CEO of Management Services Northwest (MSNW) and BSCAI past president, said this:
“As I reflect on the many years I have been in the building service contracting industry, I have found that whether the day is a good day, the month a good month, or the year a good year, it was often a matter of choosing the right perspective.
Choose the right perspective. Do not allow negativity to take up space in your lives. Even though you can’t control the conditions around you, you can control yourself, your attitude and your response. Choosing the right perspective over the last 20 years has allowed MSNW to embrace every day, overcome obstacles, and has made the journey extraordinary.”
