BSCAI Executive Insights Profile: Dryden Dennis
With a passion for improving results for his clients, Dryden Dennis of Aspire is always searching for new ideas which push for better standards. In this profile, he shares his optimistic outlook for the future of the cleaning industry and encourages readers to influence their businesses with positive change.
Tell us a bit about yourself, and how you got started in the building service contracting (BSC) industry.
Both Aspire and I entered into the building service contractor (BSC) space because we saw the industry as one where we could effect real and positive change. For a long time, BSCs have accepted the margins that have been achieved as status quo. Aspire is going to educate and help the industry achieve more profits, better contracts, better work-life balance for owners and a better working environment for cleaners.
What are some trends you see developing in the BSC industry?
I see private equity taking a greater interest in the BSC industry. Like other service industries, BSCs provide a financial portfolio with consistent and recurring revenue. All BSCs need to look at their business as if they were going to sell it, even if they never will. Looking at your business that way provides an environment where you maximize results and profit.
What is your favorite part of your role?
My favorite part about my role is that I am not limited to being behind my desk or always in a Zoom meeting. I’m able get out into the market to talk to the people that make this industry as special as it is. Gathering ideas and best practices allows me to help Aspire continue to invest in the future of BSCs so we can be the gold standard of business management software in this industry.
Any advice for new BSCs coming into the industry?
Be bold and stand up! No matter your age or how long you have been in the industry, industries like ours benefit from new and exciting ideas. Anyone, at any time, can change the direction in a very positive way for all of the industry. On the flip side of that, be open to new ideas if they are presented to you. Just because it has “always been this way” doesn’t mean it always needs to be that way.
How does a BSCAI membership impact your career in the BSC industry?
Being part of BSCAI has allowed me to understand the industry at its core and to develop relationships with the best people this industry provides. The future is so bright for this industry and the members of BSCAI are the ones that are going to shape it.
